No Springtime Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Three in the meadow and two by the lake
How many songbirds will it take
To tell me so I still don’t get it wrong?
What’s gone is gone is gone is gone
Five silhouettes on the telephone pole
One outside your bedroom window
You don’t know what you thought you knew
There’s no springtime in the blues-ues
[Chorus]
I see you going back there again
To the moment where it all went wrong
Rubbernecking on the highway wreck
Then you see your own body lying on the ground
I know you’re looping and you’re looping and you’re looping
It feels like you’re never gonna break on through
I’ll never cast that stone on you
‘Cause oh my God, I do it too
[Verse 2]
Seven in the woods, four by the river
How many magpies spell forever?
Tell me so we don’t get it wrong
What’s gone is gone is gone is gone
Nine black lotus floating on the pond
Eight violets on a midnight lawn
We don’t know what we thought we knew
There’s no springtime in the blues-ues
[Chorus]
I see you going back there again
To the moment where it all went wrong
Rubbernecking on the highway wreck
Then you see your own body lying on the ground
I know you’re looping and you’re looping and you’re looping
It feels like you’re never gonna break on through
I’ll never cast that stone on you
‘Cause oh my God, I do it too
[Instrumental Break]
[Chorus]
I see you going back there again
To the moment where it all went wrong
Rubbernecking on the highway wreck
Then you see your own body lying on the ground
I know you’re looping and you’re looping and you’re looping
It feels like you’re never gonna break on through
I’ll never cast that stone on you
‘Cause oh my God, I do it too
