Never needed a man
Tatay died when I was like ten
I turned out to be just fine
I just cheat every now and again
That was hard for me to admit
‘Cause I really want commit
Really, really want commitment
Can’t keep fucking shit up
[Pre-Chorus: Steve Lacy]
You could leave, I could see why you wouldn’t wanna stay
No, we not forever young, we could die any day
Or we could fuck, bust a nut, t-talk it over on a date
We could be unless we can’t, nah-nah
[Chorus: Steve Lacy]
You ain’t gotta trust me to love me, baby
Yeah, you ain’t gotta trust me to love me, baby
Yeah, ’cause I don’t even trust myself
[Post-Chorus: Steve Lacy]
Uh-uh, ooh, ooh-ooh
Uh-uh, ooh-ooh, ah
Uh-uh, ooh, ooh-ooh
Uh-uh, doo-doo-doo, ah
[Verse 2: Steve Lacy & SZA]
Growing up has been so hard for me
I never learned to love properly
The mind be playing tricks when the heart’s involved
I proceed to self-sabotage
Being vulnerable is exhausting, babe
Can we get naked instead of talking, babe?
I ain’t trippin’, we both got options, babe
Keep coming back, I guess we’re both insane
[Verse 3: Steve Lacy]
I don’t wanna cheat no more, be no whore
I would rather be the one that you tell your mom about and stuff
Be the one you fuck on full-time
Be your honest lover, babe
[Pre-Chorus: Steve Lacy]
You could leave, I could see why you wouldn’t wanna stay
No, we not forever young, we could die any day
Or we could fuck, bust a nut, t-talk it over on a date
We could be unless we can’t, nah-nah
[Chorus: Steve Lacy]
You ain’t gotta trust me to love me, baby
Yeah, you ain’t gotta trust me to love me, baby
Yeah, ’cause I don’t even trust myself
[Post-Chorus: Steve Lacy & SZA, Steve Lacy]
‘Cause I don’t even trust myself
I don’t even trust myself
I don’t even trust myself
Maybe I should trust myself
[Outro: SZA & Steve Lacy]
Is it cool? Do you trust me?
Am I a fool if I love you?
Is it cool? Can I get ugly
Next to you?
Is it cool? Do you trust me?
Am I a fool if I love you?
Is it cool? Can I get ugly
Next to you?
Maybe I should trust myself
