Tries to tell all her friends I’m her lover
Then she calls and complains I don’t love her
[Pre-Chorus]
‘Cause she wants the guy that writes her pretty songs
She wants a prize to show to everyone
But she doesn’t like to pull the curtain
Down, down, down
[Chorus]
She says, “You’re such a dream boy”
“Wish I could rip you right out of my screen, boy”
You treat me like a shiny toy to reach for
But I’m not the “give-you-everything-you need” boy
So dream more
You act like a fanatic
I talk, then you’ll get mad
If I’m not what you imagined
So let me shut you up before you speak more
‘Cause I don’t wanna be another dream boy
Dream boy
[Verse 2]
Oh, we talk with a smile ’til she isn’t (‘Til she isn’t)
She says we should stop, just to claim that she’s only kidding
(I-I-I don’t think I believe it, oh)
[Pre-Chorus]
‘Cause she wants the guy that writes her pretty songs
She wants a prize to show to everyone
But she doesn’t like to pull the curtain
Down (Down), down (Down), down (Down)
[Chorus]
She says, “You’re such a dream boy”
“Wish I could rip you right out of my screen, boy”
You treat me like a shiny toy to reach for
But I’m not the “give-you-everything-you need” boy
So dream more
You act like a fanatic
I talk, then you’ll get mad
If I’m not what you imagined
So let me shut you up before you speak more
‘Cause I don’t wanna be another dream boy
Dream boy
[Bridge]
No, I could never be (She wants a prize)
No, I could never be your (The guy that writes her pretty songs)
No, I could never be
No, I could never be your (Dream boy)
No, I could never be (You act like a fanatic)
No, I could never be your (She says we should stop)
No, I could never be (I don’t love her)
(Be your-, be your-)
[Chorus]
She says, “You’re such a dream boy”
“Wish I could rip you right out of my screen, boy”
You treat me like a shiny toy to reach for
But I’m not the “give-you-everything-you need” boy
So dream more (More)
You act like a fanatic
I talk, then you’ll get mad
If I’m not what you imagined
So let me shut you up before you speak more (Uh, don’t talk no more)
‘Cause I don’t wanna be another dream boy
Dream boy
